Children from 3 years old up to 10 years old or 135 cm (4 ft 5 in) in height must travel in their own seat with an appropriate child restraint system (CRS), such as a child car seat if possible, or a booster seat that ensures the seat belt’s diagonal strap does not cause injury to their neck. Additionally, they should never travel in the front seats or without proper containment seats.
Children under 3 years old who travel without an age-appropriate CRS do so under the full responsibility of their parents, who understand that no matter how securely the child is held in arms or on the lap, it is never safe enough in the event of sudden braking or a collision.
In addition to the fact that travel insurance is automatically invalidated for all passengers, federal highway regulations strictly prohibit carrying more passengers than the number of seats in the vehicle. This does not take into account the high risk involved when a person does not occupy a seat with the proper seatbelt.
